| Fab Felt |
| For this felt bead lesson we’re using the dry method, (there is also a wet method.) With each stab, the needle drags the fibers in it’s path towards the point of the needle and it can be used to make solid felt in any shape and a variety of surface designs. We will be making a round bead with surface decoration. |

To make a bead take a wad of wool, how big a wad depends on how big a bead you wish to make. |
| |
| |
Pull it apart. |
| |
| |

Then fold it as indicated and then roll it between your hands to form the basic shape. |

Using a foam pad as a working surface, stab the ball of felt, always working towards the centre with your felting needle. Turning the ball all the while, stab the surface a few times to secure the shape. |
| |
| |
Continue rolling the ball while you needle it, if you needle in one place too long you will cause a depression in the area.
The more you needle the bead the more compact (and smaller) it becomes. |

To decorate the bead, needle a second colour, or as many as you require, onto the bead as indicated. |
| |
| |
Keep your subsequent colours thin to avoid changing the shape of the bead, unless that is what you want. Mix different beads, threads and ribbons in your creations. The only limit is your imagination! |
