WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS PROJECT

One knitting spool • Fine gut 0.35mm • 1400 crystal beads for one rope • Black crystal 4mm - 14 packets of each for the black rope or Mother of pearl and silver crystal 4mm - 7 packets of each • a crochet hook.
You can also use fuse wire or waxed cord and any 4mm bead you fancy.
TIP: When knitting with beads, thread the beads on before you begin, when you knit add one bead at a time between each peg, as illustrated below.

Knitting Spool

1.
Put the end of the gut through the spool from the top to the bottom, bend it up over the bottom of the knitter to give yourself some leverage.

5. Work your way around the knitter in an anticlockwise direction repeating steps 3 and 4 as you go. It is important to keep the tension even. Holding the gut with the left hand helps.

2.
Start on any peg. Hold the gut onthe left side
of the peg and wrap anticlockwise around the knitter.

6. Work until you have reached the desired length.

3. Wrap the gut around the outside of all 5 pegs in an anticlockwise direction. Use the index finger of your left handto hold the working end of the gut firmly the side of the knitter.

While our site catalogue is under construction, you can view our extensive range on our disc catalogue.

Removing work from the knitter. Cut the gut leaving a tail of about 5cm. Insert the tail end of the gut through each loop a sit is removedfrom the pegs. Pull up. This serves as "casting off" and seals the ends.

The Tassles
You need 14 beads for each strand in the tassle and you need 8 to 10 strands to create a nice full tassle. You work each strand on individualy, making sure that they are worked on firmly. You don't want them to fall off.
